About Krista Coulas

From a young age, I’ve always been curious about the world and its inhabitants. Since I can remember, I was drawn to science and loved performing experiments. As I advanced through my academic career, I packed my schedule with science courses and ultimately pursued a degree in human biology, a natural progression for someone passionate about always learning new things. My studies culminated in a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from The University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!).

Shortly thereafter, I began my professional career in the quality control laboratory at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Microbiology Division based in Lenexa, Kansas. Nearly two years in, I was ready to advance my career and accepted a job within the inside sales group at the same company. Within two years on the sales team I was at the top of my group. However, despite winning Sales Rep of The Year in 2012, something felt like it was missing from not only my career, but my life. I considered the path I was on and compared it to where I wanted to be as a fully realized adult. That’s when I made the decision to quit my job at peak performance and do a 180 – to do a gap year in Korea and teach English.

What was intended as a gap year ended up being nearly four years abroad. After completing my contract in Korea, I traveled solo for 3 months around East and Southeast Asia, cutting my trip short for a job opportunity in Istanbul, Turkey, where I lived for the following 2 1/2 years. My time in Turkey is unforgettable and I still consider Istanbul my second home. I lived through the coup attempt in 2016. I met my husband there. I truly learned how to be independent during my time in Istanbul and though I was sad to leave it behind, I was ready for the next opportunity. It was time.

I moved back to Kansas at 30 with my then-boyfriend, now-husband. A few months later, I accepted a job with Copan Diagnostics as a Field Application Specialist and learned a lot, but after a short time realized that it wasn’t the right fit. Being on the road all the time was taking its toll and I longed for a role with less travel and closer to home. That’s when I decided to start seeking out jobs where I could be partially or fully remote.

I knew digital marketing was a great industry for remote work and started concentrating my job searches there. Through a connection, I learned of a job opportunity at a local agency and after meeting the man in charge, I knew it would be a perfect fit. I currently wear a lot of hats at Constant Flow Marketing and can do anything from building websites to email marketing and a lot in between. I describe myself as a lifelong learner and always appreciate a new challenge. You can read more details about my current role as well as past experience on my resume, which is available to download. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
